PP#2: Spooky Dogs, Despite Everything
"Dog Walker III: Wedding Siege" is now in production. By which I mean, I'm writing it. It's a book.
Hi, I’m Jack McGuigan. I wrote Dog Walker (I and II) and Agents of Paradox, a comic book. At some point in the last several months, you signed up for my mailing list. Or maybe you didn’t? If not, here’s a button!
It’s a little hard to focus right now.
Things are weird out there in the world, here in May 2020. You don’t need me to tell you that. We get the same emails from Potbelly’s.
Here’s where I’m at: I had planned to be further along in writing my next novel at this point. I probably said as much in the last email. My next two books take place at a wedding and a theme park, respectively, and I don’t know what those are going to look like next month, much less next year, when a book would be done. When you’re writing sci-fi/fantasy/genre stuff, you generally want to have something to say, underneath it all, some comment on the world you live in, because that’s where the reader lives, and…I don’t know, man. I don’t know what to say about the world. The world is changing. All of my beliefs and opinions feel dated.
THAT SAID, I have gotten back into a writing rhythm in the past couple of weeks, and I’m much more likely to keep it going if I’m accountable to a group of strangers, so I’m introducing a new feature in this post called…

First Draft: 12.5% Complete
It don’t look like much, but believe me when I tell you that even in a COVIDless world, this is always the hardest part. If I don’t start a book, I can play video games! Scratch that same productivity itch for 1/10 of the effort.
Agents of Paradox is $4.49 on Comixology!
From today until June 4th, Agents of Paradox is only $4.49 on Kindle and Comixology! Art by John Fortune, colors by Vanessa Kirby, written by me. Paradox is the story of an old west cowboy and a teenage girl from the 80’s traveling through time, repairing wormholes and foiling sinister plots. It’s a graphic novel, and it took about seven years from conception to finish. We worked very hard on it. I know you guys are mostly novel readers, but if you like Dog Walker, you’ll probably enjoy this too! I can only write the one way.
If you do like it, please consider leaving a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Reviews help readers like you find these books, which makes it easier to write new ones. :-)
In the future, I’ll answer reader questions down here, so if you have anything you wanna know, email me at gorillahousebooks@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter.
Your friend in time,
Jack
